From 1st June 2020 all tenancies must comply with new legislation and only 5 weeks’ deposit can be held for any tenancy (6 weeks if the annual rent is £50,000 or more).  Any deposits over the 5 weeks rental will need to be returned to the tenants with the remaining 5 weeks registered with the deposit scheme and the correct paper work re-issued.

From 1st June 2019 landlords will be limited to 5 weeks’ deposit for all new and renewed tenancies (or 6 weeks if the annual rent is £50,000 or more).  Any existing tenancies will have until 1st June 2020 to adhere to this new legislation.
